U.S. Boosts Military Aid to Ukraine

Secretary Blinken continues diplomatic efforts.

President Biden’s administration said Wednesday it is providing an additional $200 million in defensive military aid to Ukraine amid increasing concerns of an invasion by Russia. The assistance was approved in late December as part of American efforts to help Ukraine protect itself. Until Wednesday, however, the administration had refused to comment on it.

At the same time, Secretary of State Blinken opened a hastily-arranged visit to Kyiv as he and other administration officials step up warnings about a possible Russian invasion. The White House said Tuesday that Russia could at any point launch an attack in Ukraine.

Secretary Blinken is set to meet with German and other European allies Thursday in Berlin and with his Russian counterpart in Geneva on Friday.

“We’re now at a stage where Russia could at any point launch an attack in Ukraine,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Tuesday. “And what Secretary Blinken is going to go do is highlight very clearly there is a diplomatic path forward.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • That the diplomatic efforts by the U.S. and others would work to de-escalate the situation between Russia and Ukraine.
  • For the president and his administration as they address the situation in Europe.
  • For America’s foreign intelligence agencies to have an understanding of all that is going on behind the scenes.
